Avril Ramona Lavigne is a Canadian singer, songwriter, primarily known for pioneering pop-punk in early 2000s. Lavigne took her first step in her singing career at the age of two performing a gospel song for her church. At the age of fifteen, she won a radio contest and appeared on stage with Canadian country icon Shania Twain. Just a year later she signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records worth more than $2 million. Avril Lavigne's debut studio album, Let Go (2002) included hit singles "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi", which emphasized a skate punk persona and earned her the title "Pop Punk Queen".
